The Disgruntled Grandparent Forum

Here's the next gripe! So far away I try and communicate with mu grandchildren. I send a link to something I think they might be interested/amused by and days later, if I'm lucky, I get a one word reply. Most recently "cool" in relation to a picture we took together of an animal used on a website, and "I wonder" in reply to a question "whose hands are shown in this photo?" Whose hands?

I used to email every Friday with an "Enjoy your weekend" cheery message with a brief update of what his retired parents were up to and generally asking a general question trying to follow on from issues that were "in the open". We didn't always get a reply. The questions more often than not were not answered. There was no news of his family... That's today's gripe! What do you think? I'd love your thoughts.

So here's my first posting. Perhaps I should indicate why I am disgruntled. Well not giving too much away at this stage, my son who's in his early forties, lives in one country over 9 hours away by expensive flight. He's married to a native of that country and in his many years living and working there he's had three children aged now from 8 to 12. Here's today's rub...he does not respond to my emails, texts, WhatsApp or Skype messages. There are many things that you could ask about my contacts with him and perhaps begin to understand his perspective on lack of contact but that'll do for today. Get the picture?
